Unrealistic expectations and heart takes over. Parent do like the child. Try to understand child
What would be your number one advice?
Adopted children from an orphanage have many life experiences that you can’t take away. African children have seen acts of violence. Parents don’t realize. Learn as much as you can about the place that the child comes from. Also think as a child.
Parents have to be flexible. No ideal child. Reality seldom matches your vision
Parents have to be observant. Do not react too quickly. Be understanding.
You don’t know a lot abut the children you adopt. Fetal alcohol affect. Stealing. Meeting the birth mother helps. No perfect adoptions. Deciding not to adopt special needs. Think how adoptive children fit with other children in the family.
